1. About this page
- Bunko is a service for grouping books by theme and sharing them. A shelf you have made public can be read by anyone who knows its URL, including people who are not signed in. A shelf you have made public may also be featured on the top page and on other pages that introduce Bunko (you can exclude a shelf from this in its own settings). So that this remains a place where everyone can talk about books with confidence, we ask you to observe the following.
- These Guidelines explain, with concrete examples, the conduct prohibited by Article 8 (Prohibited Conduct) of the Terms of Service of the Service.
- Articles 2 through 11 set out prohibited conduct. They use the same categories, in the same order, as the reasons you choose in the report form.
2. Copyright infringement
- Reproducing the text, illustrations, photographs, or similar material of a book beyond the scope of permitted quotation.
- Sharing e-books or self-scanned data without the permission of the rights holder.
- Posting text written by another User as your own without indicating the source.
3. Personal information / privacy violation
- Posting another person's name, address, telephone number, email address, place of work, or similar information without their consent.
- Posting a photograph from which another person can be identified without their consent.
4. Sexual content
- Publishing text or images that contain sexual depictions.
- Content that treats minors in a sexual manner. This is prohibited without exception, and we respond in accordance with the applicable laws.
5. Violent content
- Posting images that contain violent or cruel depictions.
- Inciting violence against a particular person or group.
6. Discrimination or hate
- Demeaning or excluding others, or promoting discrimination against them, on grounds such as race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, illness, origin, or belief.
7. Harassment or defamation
- Repeatedly directing negative content at a particular individual.
- Insulting or threatening another User.
8. Spam or advertising
- Creating a shelf for the purpose of advertising products or services, or of posting affiliate links.
- Posting the same content in large quantities. Posting links unrelated to the content of the books.
9. Impersonation
- Pretending to be a real person or organization.
- Impersonating another User.
10. Other illegal activity
- Posting content that violates laws or regulations, or that promotes criminal activity.
11. Other
- Even where conduct does not fall under Articles 2 through 10, conduct that infringes the rights of other Users or of third parties, and conduct that interferes with the operation of the Service, are prohibited.
- If you choose "Other" in the report form, please describe in the details field which part is a problem. The form cannot be submitted while the details field is empty.
12. If you find a violation
- Shelves, books, cover images, and profiles that have been made public each carry a way to report them. You can report without being signed in.
- The Operator reviews what is reported. We cannot reply individually to every report.
- If a report about the same target has already reached us, sending another one does not create a new report.
- If you send many reports in a short period of time, we may temporarily limit how many we accept.
- For matters that call for a reply, such as a claim of rights infringement, please use the support desk.
13. What we do when there is a violation
- Depending on the nature and the circumstances of the violation, we may take the following measures.
- Returning a shelf that had been public to a non-public state.
- Archiving a shelf or a book so that it no longer appears in the ordinary listings.
- Deleting a cover image.
- Deleting a shelf or a book.
- Suspending the use of an account. Once suspended, the account can no longer sign in, and the shelves and profile it had made public are no longer shown on public pages.
- Deleting an account together with the shelves, books, and cover images registered under it. Where we take this measure, what has been deleted cannot be restored.
- Where urgency or other circumstances so require, we may act without prior notice.
- A measure takes effect immediately, but because of delivery caching it can take a while to be reflected on public pages. Images in cards shared on social media and similar services may keep showing older content for longer still.
14. If you disagree with a measure
- Please raise an objection through the support desk. We will review what you tell us and, where we judge it necessary, lift the measure.
- Even if the use of your account has been suspended, the support desk can be used without signing in.
15. Changes to these Guidelines
- The contents of these Guidelines may change. Where we make an important change, we will announce it on the Service.
